The most important part of selecting a mod chip for your Wii is to ensure that you select a "stable" chip, that goes into a "sleep mode" after booting the required game and can "wake up" again if needed to.
STABILITY: | |||
There are many different ways to check if a mod-chip is stable,
but unfortunately the most effective way is through experience. That is why it is very important you use a trusted installer when having a mod chip installed |
|||
SLEEP MODE: | |||
After the chip has booted the title required, it will go into hiding and only monitor what the Wii is doing. The advantage of this is that the chip does not interfere with the normal operation of the Wii and it does not damage the laser by sending unnecessary signals. Unfortunately since "sleep mode" is part of the code that is programmed on the chip, there is no way of checking for this feature on the actual chip.
Now ask yourself what your needs are. I will explain all the different
features in detail |
|||
BOOTS Game Cube GAMES: | |||
It will allow backed-up GameCube games to work on your Wii
PERFORMS AUDIO STREAMING FIX FOR GameCube GAMES:
Some Wii mod chips will not fix the audio when playing a backed up GameCube game. It will sound like a static hum while playing
BOOTS ALL Wii GAMES: | |||
Say no more. Please note that from time to time certain chips may have problems with some games. This is why "Flash upgradable" mod chips are normally the best choice. Please do keep in mind that the above statement is true for 1 to 1 back ups of an original game of your own region.
AUTO BOOT MODE: | |||
When this feature is activated the Wii will automatically boot the game disc inserted. Normally when this feature is not enabled one will have to access the disc via the disc channel to play it.
UPDATE BLOCKER: | |||
With this feature one can choose to block all system software update or allow only updates from the same region as your console. This is a very handy feature and will prevent you from accidentally installing the wrong system software on your Wii when applying an update.
STEALTH MODE: | |||
The Wii mod chip deactivates itself after booting the relevant game thus not interfering with the Wii's normal operation..
FLASH UPGRADABLE: | |||
"Flash upgradable" means to be able to update or reprogram the mod chip via DVD with the correct software on it. All you have to do is put the update disk in and the chip will do all the work. Essentially the code on the mod-chip is what makes it. mod chip developers are constantly working to better the code or software on their mod-chips and when they do you can have these updates for free forever.
