NDS Mod Chip FAQ

      Question:

What is a mod-chip, and what does it do?
    Answer:
The Nintendo DS uses a "flash card" instead of the regular mod chip. This flash card slots into slot 1 of your DS and will allow games and other homebrew applications to be run or executed from there

  Question:
  How exactly does it work?
  Answer:
The flash card has a slot on it for a Micro SD card. On this Micro SD card one will have to put the correct software for the flash card that you are using. Using incompatible software will not damage you flash card or DS, but will not work. Once the correct software has been placed in the ROOT directory of the micro SD card games, mp3 and homebrew applications can be copied to it. The directory structure does not matter as games will be detected in any directory. Please do keep in mind, creating to many subdirectories with games in will slow down the game detection process.
